iOS 4.2.1 Update

I understand that many of you already know this, but iOS 4.2 for your iPod, iPhone, and most importantly, your iPad has been released today.  I highly recommend getting your devices updated.  I've been working with my devices under this update for a while and it's very stable, and finally brings the functionalities that you've been experiencing on your iPhone to your iPad.

What does it mean for you individually? Well, some of what it brings to you is:

  • AirPrint
  • AirPlay to your Apple TV and AirPlay enable speakers(not on iPhone 3G)
  • Multitasking for the iPad
  • Unified Inbox for the iPad
  • Stability and speed back to your iPhone 3G
  • Gamecenter to the iPad
  • FREE Find-my-iPhone location to all the newer devices (previously only available to mobileme subscribers)
  • text message tones
  • new ringtones
  • Change fonts in notepad
  • View how many Safari windows you have open within the iPad
For some of you this will be a bigger deal than to others.  The AirPrint functionality is limited right now to certain HP printers, (although there is a simple and very easy to use hack for Macs that enables the feature for your shared printers with installation instructions at http://netputing.com/2010/11/11/airprint-hacktivator/)

What more can I say? It's a worthwhile upgrade for all concerned, especially those of us with an iPad.

Share what you have to say about the upgrade in the comments.
